We proudly participate in activities aimed at building community and
making Snohomish great. In addition to producing fruits and
vegetables, there is an extensive garden of rare and unique
rhododendrons for people to enjoy. Rhododendrons are a garden staple,
because of their impressive blooms, rich foliage and euphoric fragrances.
Many plants we have available for touring are featured as Rhododendrons of
the Year by The American Rhododendron Society and are favorites of the
Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden.
Rhododendrons are a personal favorite and I have sought them out in places,
locally and afar, to provide a dynamic display of varieties here at French
House Farm. Some who know the story, would easily venture to say they were
the only request for my birthday one year. It’s with my pleasure that some
of the specimens available to peruse are Etta Burrows, Fascination, Horizon
Monarch, Mitsuki, Percy Wiseman, Pink Prelude, R. occidentale, and Washington
State Centennial! There are over 200 rhododendrons at French House Farm
to see and photograph from early Spring to late Fall. Occasionally, there
is even a Winter bloomer. Hooray, for Christmas Cheer!
If you share a love for rhododendrons and azaleas, this is definitely a place
to see during the Snohomish Garden Tour. Some of these gems are even
available to view in bloom twice a year!
